To get started, download the "TruckTracker AU" app from the iOS App Store or Android Play Store and click "Sign Up" to create an account. Producers and Processors geolocate their properties and unloading facilities using Google Maps, which set the parameters of each trip. This allows each truck to be tracked from point A to B.
Having loaded the livestock onto the truck, the Driver creates a trip, selecting the Producer, Property of Origin, the Destination, the Number of Head, Truck Rego and taking a photo of the Waybill, which is uploaded to the TruckTracker system.
When the Driver is ready to begin driving, they press "Start Trip", which begins the tracking process, notifying the other stakeholders that a truckload of cattle is on its way and sending through the paperwork relating to that livestock movement.
The sender and receiver of the livestock can then follow the truck's location in real-time across a Google Maps interface and through Live Dashboards, providing assurance and peace of mind and improving operational efficiency.
Throughout the journey, the Driver can report on the welfare of the animals in transit directly through the app. If a problem arises, all parties are notified instantly and the documentation process begins, facilitating a more collaborative supply chain approach to finding the best animal welfare outcomes.
In-transit animal welfare reporting is the necessary next step in the Australian Livestock Industry's continual improvement of animal welfare standards.
When the truck reaches its destination, the trip autocompletes and the truck disappears off the map until the Driver starts their next trip. A digital Trip Report is emailed to all parties outlining the details of the livestock movement providing greater transparency and improved traceability.
